Revit Structure - FAQ |
|
Q: What is Revit Structure 2008? |
|
|
Revit Structure software integrates a multimaterial physical model with an independently editable analytical model for efficient, accurate, and flexible analysis, design, and documentation.
Create models from scratch or import architectural files, whether industry-standard 2D format or from AutoCAD Architecture, Revit Architecture, or IFC files. Bidirectional linking to popular structural analysis software enables accurate model updates, while parametric change management technology coordinates those updates throughout your design documentation.
Complete your construction documentation using specific and typical details in Revit Structure. Export models in several widely used formats, including DWG™, DXF™, DWF™, and IFC |
Q: Who will benefit from Revit Structure?
|
A: Structural engineers, designers, drafters, and technicians. |
Q: Can I use Revit Structure just for drafting?
A: You can work entirely in Revit Structure to generate your construction documentation, drawings, structural details, and schedules. AutoCAD software is not required. You can also reuse existing typical details from AutoCAD via the DWG import – or you can export from Revit Structure to DWG format for other consultants to use. |
Q: Who builds the model in Revit Structure -- the engineers or drafters?
A: Revit Structure supports different ways of working.
Q: Does Revit Structure support sustainable design?
A: Yes, in conjunction with the other Revit family building information modeling software, Revit Structure is an ideal platform for engineers to make sustainable design decisions. |
Q: What types of structural elements and materials are supported out of the box?
A: Libraries of all standard walls, columns, foundations, beams, floor systems, braces, trusses, and open web joists are provided. Special foundations, precast concrete elements, and other useful structural libraries such as castellated beams, steel connections, stiffeners, and concrete rebars, are also supported. Structural boundary conditions, load cases and load types are included and can be exported to analysis and design software along with the other structural elements. |
Q: What types of structural materials does Revit Structure support?
A: Revit Structure supports steel, precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, wood, and masonry. |
