 FREE Version 6.5 of Cadvance

Where can I find Manuals or Tutorials on the FREE Cadvance Version 6.5

These days Cadvance like most other software is supplied with electronic Adobe e-book manuals. Version 6.5 which dates back to 1995 was supplied with two volume Paperback Manuals. However All is not lost, Janise Harmon of BayCAD produced 8 Lessons you can download to get you started.

I have also published the notes that formed the training notes and CAD Manual for the Construction & Property Consultancy back in the days when we moved from the Dos Version to using the Windows Version 5.5 - 7.2c.

Whats New since version 6.5 ??

 File Translation with AutoCAD

Spline lines in AutoCAD drawings not converting when loading an AutoCAD dwg drawing file.

The solution to this one is to get the splines in the AutoCAD drawing converted to polylines by the person of company supplying the file. This can be achieved by using a FREE AutoCAD program called spl2pl.vlx (spline2Polyline) which comes from Terry Dotsons web site http://www.dotsoft.com

 Lists of Files

How do I get a list of files from a folder.

1) get the command prompt up start / programs /command prompt (this is windows NT it might be somewhere else on different operating systems)

2) use the "cd xxxxxx" command "where xxxxx is the directory you want to go to" to get to the directory where your drawings are residing

type dir/w at any point to get the current directory listing

3) Type "dir>list.txt" this will create a text file in your directory with names of all files in that directory

4) close command prompt window

5) open the file in word and edit to your delight

6) if you type "dir/s>list.txt" all the file attributes are added to text file
